Recreational League Information

Youth (Pre-K through 6th grade programming)

*Grade level is considered as of the current school year (what grade level you are enrolled in during the Spring will be the grade level you compete in for Summer; what grade level you are entering for Fall is the grade level you compete in for the Fall season)

Little Sluggers (Pre-K & Kindergarten)

Who:

  • Players in Pre-K, as well as players in Kindergarteners who are not ready to move up to the machine pitch (Pee Wee Minors) league should play Little Sluggers

When:

  • Spring/Summer League will have two sessions. Players may sign up for either one, or both.
  • Session 1 begins mid-April and concludes prior to Memorial Day
  • Session 2 begins the week after Memorial Day and concludes in early July
  • Fall Ball League will have one session
  • Begins towards the end of August and concludes the first week of October
  • During registration, you will select which nights you prefer (Mondays & Wednesdays, or Tuesdays & Thursdays)
  • Game/Practice length is 1 hour. Start times will typically be 5:30pm and 6:30pm, depending on the number of teams.

Where:

  • All games are played on the miniature diamonds next to the pavilion at Quarry Park in Lawrence


Pee Wee Minors (Kindergarten through 2nd grade)

Who:

  • Players in Kindergarten who are ready to move up to machine pitch and 1st and 2nd graders who are not as advanced as some of their peers should play Pee Wee Minors

When:

  • Spring/Summer League begins in early/mid-April and concludes in early/mid-June
  • Fall Ball League begins mid/late August and concludes the first week of October
  • During registration, you will select which nights you prefer (Mondays & Wednesdays, or Tuesdays & Thursdays)
  • Game/Practice length is 75 minutes. Summer start times will typically be 5:00pm and 6:30pm, depending on the number of teams. Fall will be 5:15pm (just one game can be played due to the lack of lights on our fields).

Where:

  • Pee Wee Minors activities can be held at Quarry Park, Ledgeview Park, or Mulva Family Fields (Scray Hill Park)


Pee Wee Majors (1st & 2nd grade)

Who:

  • Players in 1st and 2nd grade who are more advanced than some of their peers should play Pee Wee Majors
  • Note: All players who wish to compete on a Tournament Team (7U and 8U teams) must play Pee Wee Majors

When:

  • Spring/Summer League begins in mid-April and concludes in mid-July
  • There is an "Opening Day" on a Saturday in May (usually the weekend after Mother's Day), and a year-end tournament on a weekend (Friday/Saturday) in mid-July
  • There is not a separate "Majors" for Fall Ball. There is just one Pee Wee league that operates under the Minors rule set.
  • During registration, you will select which nights you prefer (Mondays & Wednesdays, or Tuesdays & Thursdays)
  • Game/Practice length is 75 minutes. Summer start times will typically be 5:00pm and 6:30pm, depending on the number of teams.

Where:

  • Pee Wee Majors activities can be held at Quarry Park, Ledgeview Park, or Mulva Family Fields (Scray Hill Park)


What's the difference between Pee Wee Majors & Minors?

  • Minors
  • No score is kept
  • No umpires - coaches will make the calls
  • No year-end tournament
  • No strikeouts - if a player is unsuccessful in putting a ball in play off of the pitching machine, they may hit off of a tee
  • Meant for more advanced Kindergarteners and beginner-level 1st and 2nd grade players
  • Majors
  • Score is kept. W/L records are kept for purposes of seeding the year-end tournament
  • An umpire is used (typically a 5th or 6th grade player)
  • An Opening Day is held, as well as a year-end tournament to wrap up the season
  • No batting tee is used. Players can strike out.
  • Meant for more advanced 1st and 2nd grade players
  • Tournament Team players (7U and 8U) must play Majors in Summer


American League (3rd & 4th grade)

Who:

  • Players in 3rd and 4th grade

When:

  • Spring/Summer League begins in mid-April and concludes in mid-July
  • There is an "Opening Day" on a Saturday in May (usually Mother's Day weekend), and a year-end tournament mid-July which is held during the normal weeknights scheduled for this league
  • Fall Ball League begins in mid-August and concludes the first week of October
  • Game/Practice length is 75 minutes. Start times will typically be 5:30pm and 7:00pm, depending on the number of teams.
  • Spring/Summer League practice & game nights are held on Tuesdays & Thursdays
  • Fall Ball League practice & game nights are held on Mondays & Wednesdays

Where:

  • American League activities are held at Kelly Danen Park and Mulva Family Fields (Scray Hill Park)


National League (5th & 6th grade)

Who:

  • Players in 5th and 6th grade

When:

  • Spring/Summer League begins in mid-April and concludes in mid-July
  • There is an "Opening Day" on a Saturday in May (usually Mother's Day weekend), and a year-end tournament mid-July which is held during the normal weeknights scheduled for this league
  • Fall Ball League begins in mid-August and concludes the first week of October
  • Game/Practice length is 75 minutes. Start times will typically be 5:30pm and 7:00pm, depending on the number of teams.
  • Spring/Summer League practice & game nights are held on Mondays & Wednesdays
  • Fall Ball League practice & game nights are held on Tuesdays & Thursdays

  • National League activities are held at Kelly Danen Park and Mulva Family Fields (Scray Hill Park)


7th through 12th grade programming

Pony League (7th Grade)

Summer

During the summer, 7th graders will compete in the Bay Area League which is comprised of community-based programs from the greater Green Bay area.

Rosters:

  • 13U De Pere and 13U West De Pere Tournament teams will compete in the Competitive division of the Bay Area League
  • Non-tournament players will be assigned to a De Pere team (1 or 2 teams formed, depending on number of players registered) which will compete in the Recreational division of the Bay Area League


Schedule:

  • Schedule will be created by the coaches at the League meeting (usually late April). Games typically played on weeknights. These leagues also include a playoff for the top 4 teams in each division.
  • Home games can be played at either Southwest Park or Mulva Family Fields (Scray Hill)


Fall

During the fall, if there is enough interest, we will form a "house league" for Pony that will play on Sunday evenings to avoid conflicts for those playing middle school football during the week.


Babe Ruth (8th & 9th grade)

Summer

During the summer, 8th & 9th graders will compete in the Bay Area League which is comprised of community-based programs from the greater Green Bay area.

Rosters:

  • 14U De Pere and 14U West De Pere Tournament teams will compete in the Competitive division of the Bay Area League against other 14U teams
  • Non-tournament players will be assigned to a De Pere team (1 or 2 teams formed, depending on number of players registered) which will compete in the Recreational division of the Bay Area League against other teams comprised of 8th & 9th graders
  • The varsity coaches will also select Freshmen players to compete on either 15U teams, or JV Legion.


Schedule:

  • Schedule will be created by the coaches at the League meeting (usually late April). Games typically played on weeknights. These leagues also include a playoff for the top 4 teams in each division.


Fall

During the fall, 8th & 9th graders will also compete in the Bay Area League. During fall, there is just one division (not separate divisions for competitive and recreational). Schedule will be determined at the Fall League meeting (August).


American Legion

The De Pere and West De Pere varsity baseball coaches will select players for the Legion teams. Typically there is a Varsity team, a Varsity 2 team, and then at least one JV squad.


Varsity Fall Ball

Similar to 8th & 9th grade fall ball, there will be varsity (usually a West De Pere and a De Pere) teams competing in the Bay Area Fall League. 10th through 12th grade players are eligible for Varsity Fall Ball.
