Bay Area and American Legion
*Grade level is considered as of the current spring semester school year when completing the registration for summer ball, while fall ball is the grade level the player is entering into that fall.
Summer Programs
American Legion
- For 10th through 12th Grade players. Rosters will be finalized late in spring by the high school coaching staffs.
Bay Area League
- For 7th through 9th grade players
- Players will compete against other community-based teams in our area
- There are 4 divisions
- Babe Ruth Competitive League (14U). If your player was placed on the 14U De Pere or 14U West De Pere tournament team, those teams will compete here.
- Babe Ruth Rec League (8th & 9th grade players who were not selected for a 14U or 15U tournament team).
- Pony Competitive League (13U). If your player was placed on the 13U De Pere or 13U West De Pere tournament team, those teams will compete here.
- Pony Rec League (8th & 9th grade players who were not selected for a 13U tournament team)
- For the Rec League teams, an effort will be made to create separate "De Pere" and "West De Pere" teams when possible, but if numbers don't work out for that to make sense, they will play as evenly-split combined teams.
9th grade players should sign up for Babe Ruth initially. The high school coaches will determine placement for these players into Legion, 15U, or Rec League.
Fall Programs
Bay Area League
The Bay Area League is comprised of two age/grade levels for Fall Ball:
- Junior Varsity (8th & 9th grade)
- Varsity (10th, 11th & 12th grade)
Construction of the rosters depends on the overall number of players registered. If numbers are roughly equal to create separate "De Pere" and "West De Pere" teams, we will do that (non-resident players are admitted if we have room and would be allocated to either roster based on need). Otherwise, teams will be split up evenly based on skill level. Head coaches for each Fall Ball team are selected by the De Pere Youth Baseball Board.
Eligibility
We do not have any residency restrictions. Not all surrounding communities have enough players interested to form their own teams for the Bay Area League, so we welcome those players to participate on De Pere teams so long as we have room to roster those players. There is just an additional $10 non-resident fee during registration.
Schedule
Legion schedule will be provided by those coaches.
For Bay Area League team, the league meeting (late April for Summer; late July/early August for Fall) is when the coaches from the area communities participating in the league will meet and set their own schedules. Practices & games could be on any day of the week, but likely that games will be primarily on weeknights. Half the games will be at De Pere/West De Pere fields, while the other half will be located at the home sites of the other area teams. The frequency/location of practices will be at the discretion of the head coach and field availability.
Uniforms & equipment
Legion players will be provided full uniforms by the program.
Bay Area League teams will be provided a dri-fit uniform shirt and a hat (except summer competitive league players who will wear their tournament team uniforms). Players are responsible for other equipment needed (baseball pants, belt, cleats, etc).
